Polly and Sue’s Story –
Our mum’s health had been declining, and for the last five years she lived at home before moving into Codnor Park, she received assistance from caregivers. With time she began experiencing distressing hallucinations that became overwhelming, as these worsened, she became frightened and very unwell. Despite receiving care at the hospital for a month, her hallucinations remained uncontrolled, leading to the decision that she could not be discharged back home.
Once mum was ready for discharge getting her into a care home was quick. They suggested a couple of homes which included Codnor Park. The home stood out immediately when we came to look around we knew that it was the right place straight away. We instantly thought it was brilliant.
It has been a year and three months now, and since my mum arrived at Codnor Park, we have seen a significant improvement in her health. We truly believe that she would not have made such progress if she had stayed where she was. The care she receives here is exceptional.
While she still expresses a preference for being at home, it is clear that this would not have been a feasible or sustainable option.
Codnor Park truly feels like a tight-knit family where everyone is known, providing a level of support and care that is truly outstanding. While we would love to bring Mum home tomorrow, unfortunately, that is not feasible due to the specialised care she requires. Knowing that she is being well taken care of brings us more peace of mind than anything else.
Our recommendation for other families facing similar situations is to definitely give it a try. You and your loved one will be welcomed warmly, taken care of, well-fed, and provided with activities to enjoy! I have no reservations whatsoever. Even friends who have visited have echoed the sentiment that there is no need to worry about their loved ones at Codnor Park. If we ever require care, we wouldn’t hesitate to choose this home.
